DIMITRI HURT
FOUNDER AND MANAGING PARTNER
Dimitri Hurt was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. After graduating from Arizona State University with his B.S. in Justice Studies, Dimitri moved to San Diego, California where he attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law on an academic scholarship.
As a law student, outside of the general core classes, Dimitri immersed himself in entertainment related curriculum. He took classes that covered music law, copyright law, trademarks, sports law, fashion law, and general entertainment law transactions. In his final year of law school, Dimitri secured a prestigious and highly coveted judicial clerkship with the Honorable Judge Trina Thompson of the Alameda County Superior Court (now Judge Thompson sits on the federal bench of the Northern District of California, San Francisco). While working with Judge Thompson, President Barack Obama appointed her to serve on his judicial council. As can be expected, Judge Thompson’s workload demanded excellence from Dimitri and as a result pushed Dimitri to excel in legal research, policy and legislature reform and implementation. Dimitri to this day uses the skills learned from Judge Thompson in his daily life as an attorney.
Shortly after passing the California Bar, Dimitri moved to Los Angeles to pursue his legal career. In early 2014, Dimitri landed a position as an associate attorney at a boutique law firm in Beverly Hills. There he learned the ins and outs of general civil litigation and criminal defense. Simultaneously Dimitri began a talent management company where under his guidance he grew multiple clients into household names with millions and millions of followers. Dimitri quickly realized that entertainers have regular problems just like everyone else. As such, Dimitri found himself representing his clients in all areas of the law; criminal defense, family law, personal injury, labor/employment law, trusts, and real estate transactions.
In 2015, Dimitri co-founded O’Connor and Hurt PC, a law firm that specializes in servicing the needs of entertainers. To date, Dimitri has successfully represented countless platinum recording artists, producers, executives, and their teams navigate through all areas of the law. Although O’Connor and Hurt PC was founded with the intention of servicing entertainers at first, the firm has evolved to servicing the needs of entertainers and the general population alike!
Dimitri enjoys educating people on the law and has served as a guest lecturer at Chapman University School of Law in Santa Ana, California, Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ and Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, LA. Entering his 11th year as a licensed attorney, Dimitri looks forward to continuing to service the needs of the community through education and competent representation.
